Die Arbeit „zur Feier des Tages“ entstand in den Tagen, als die ehemalige Kolonialmacht Frankreich ihre Truppen mobilisierte, um im Norden Malis im Kampf gegen die Rebellen mit breiter Brust einzumarschieren.
Getragen wurde dieser „Befreiungsschlag“ hierzulande von breiter medialer Unterstützung nach einem Jahr der Untätigkeit. Dieser militärische Einsatz bleibt kritisch zu betrachten, stellt er doch einen Zustand postkolonialer Hegemonie dar, der leider am schwarzen Kontinent nachwievor auf der Tagesordnung steht.
The work of art „In honour of the day“ resulted from the days when France as former colonial power drew her troops together to invade the north of Mali in the fighting against the rebels. The media in our country supported this “blow of liberation” on a large scale after a year of inaction. This military venture must be seen critically being a state of postcolonial supremacy, conditions that are usual on the black continent, still today.
