Am 15. Dezember 1957 wurde das Heimatmuseum gegründet und 1958 ein Bienenzuchtmuseum. Als Außenstelle des NÖ-Landesmuseums wurde bis 2002 ein Fischerei- und Donaumuseum geführt.
Im Zuge der Revitalisierung des Orther Schlosses eröffnete dann am 24. März 2007 das museumORTH. In einer 3-teiligen Jubiläums-Rückschau zeigen wir die Museumsstationen und Schätze aus der Sammlung: 60 Objekte nehmen uns mit auf eine Zeitreise, die auch in 60 Schaufenstern im Ortsbild zu erkunden ist! Der Künstler Roland Maurmair erweckt einzelne Objekte in den Museumsvitrinen zu neuem Leben und zeigt Arbeiten aus seinem aktuellen Projekt „Waldarbeiten“.
The museum of local history was founded December 15th 1957 and 1958 a museum of beekeeping. A museum of fishery and a Danube-museum existed until 2002 as external parts of the Lower Austrian provincial museum. The revitalization of the castle of Orth lead to the opening of the museum Orth March 24th 2007. As part of the big Jubilee-revue in three parts we present the various stations as well as treasures of the collection: 60 objects we plan to take along on our voyage through the times, also 60 windows of display in the village represent this trip. The artist Roland Maurmair awakes some of the objects in the showcases to new life and presents works of art from his recent project „working in the forest“.
