Gstettenkultur – Asyl auf Zeit
Beim Stiegenaufgang in der BROTFABRIK WIEN wurden Blumenkisteln für Pflanzen über einen Zeitraum von 3 Monaten installiert. Diese Container dienen der Pflanzenwelt Favoritens, die der Künstler Roland Maurmair von diversen Gstetten und Baustellen aus der näheren Umgebung entnommen hat. Dabei handelt es sich um Pflanzen, die an ihrem jetzigen Standort dem Untergang geweiht sind. Den „geretteten und verschleppten“ Pflanzen wird sozusagen Asyl auf Zeit geboten, analog zur aktuellen politischen Situation.
Mit diesem Projekt nimmt Roland Maurmair Bezug auf die Arbeit „Das über Pflanzen ist eins mit ihnen“, die der Künstler Lois Weinberger im Zuge der documenta X 1997 realisiert hatte.
Am 27. Juni wird Roland Maurmair, von der Kreta-Stiege ausgehend, eine Tour durch Gstetten in der Nähe der Brotfabrik geben, wo er mit TeilnehmerInnen Pflanzen bestimmt.
Treffpunkt ist die Puchsbaumgasse 1c um 17:30 Uhr.

The culture of a rudural place (Gstetten) – asylum for a certain period of time
Flowers crates were installed for three months at the stairs to the “BROTFABRIK WIEN”. These containers were filled with plants that the artist Roland Maurmair had collected from various rudural places (Gstetten) and building sites nearby. The plants chosen would not have survived in their original habitats. These more or less saved and abducted plants were offered asylum for a certain period of time – analogous to the these days political situation.
With this project Roland Maurair refers to the work of the artist Lois Weinberger, who put this idea in the documenta X 1997 into practice with “that of plants is unifying with them” (“Das über Pflanzen ist eins mit ihnen”).
June 27th Roland Maurmair lead a tour through the rudural places close to the BROTFABRIK starting at the Kreta-Stiege, determining plants together with the participants.
